The New Hampshire Lifestyle
According to the US News and World Report New Hampshire ranks as the second best place to live in within the United States. And top-ranked Massachusetts is a mere 15 miles from Hitchiner Manufacturing, location in Milford. The report also said that NH has the highest economic opportunity rating and the lowest unemployment rate outpacing every other state. If you have children, NH ranked #1 in education for Pre Kindergarten through 12th Grade. Our state has no sales or income tax, one of the highest median household incomes, an ultra low crime rate and a top rating for healthcare quality. Statics like these illustrate why living here is great, but our amenities are outstanding as well. Some of these include,
Close To Boston
Hitchiner's facilities are approximately a one hour drive from Boston. It’s the home of The Red Sox and Celtics, has some of the best restaurants in the world and has thousands of entertainment venues that include comedy, rock and jazz clubs, theater and the Boston Symphony Orchestra.
Science, Art, and History
New Hampshire has more than 100 museums. If your interests lie in science and technology, you should make a point to visit the McAuliffe-Shepard Discovery Center for astronomy, aviation, and space science exhibits and The SEE Science Center for interactive technology, engineering exhibits, and the "must see" Lego Millyard Project.
The Currier Museum of Art features fine arts including paintings, decorative arts, photographs, and sculpture, including works by Picasso, Monet, O’Keeffe, Wyeth, and LeWitt.
Lakes and The Ocean
Whether it's on our Sea Coast or in the Lakes Region, many people spend at least part of their summer swimming, boating, fishing or enjoying a lobster roll with one of NH's craft beers on the water. The state has more than 900 lakes and ponds, the largest of which is Lake Winnipesaukee at 70+ square miles.
Our Atlantic coast line is fifteen miles long with sandy beaches and has famed summer destination, Hampton Beach. It is also known for The Hampton Beach Casino Ballroom. This entertainment venue opened in 1899, hosting thousands of performers including Bing Crosby, Duke Ellington, Ray Charles, Jerry Seinfeld and U2. It seems that every major national act has played "The Ballroom." Hampton Beach also hosts "One of the Top 100 Events in North America" The Hampton Beach Seafood Festival.
NASCAR and Racing
The New Hampshire Motor Speedway hosts a NASCAR Cup Series and the Loudon Classic one of the countries oldest motorcycle races, first run in 1923. The lakes region is also host to one of the nation's motorcycle rallies, Laconia Motorcycle Week.
The Mountains
If being outdoors is your thing, the Fall in New Hampshire is magical. When the trees turn vibrant colors, the entire state has the appearance of a travel postcard. For hiking, Mount Washington is the highest mountain in the Northeastern United States at 6,288 feet above sea level, and the White Mountains has forty-eight peaks at 4000 feet and above.
In the winter, you can ski at over thirty-four resorts in the state. Cannon Mountain has a 2,330-foot vertical drop, but if you love history and outdoor adventure, The Mount Washington Hotel in Bretton Woods is a US National Historic Landmark. The Hotel opened in 1902 and is one of the last surviving grand hotels. While there, ride the steam powered Mount Washington Cog Railway to the summit of Mount Washington. Having opened in 1869, it's the world's first mountain climbing cog railway.
If you prefer motorized winter sports, New Hampshire has 7,000 miles of snowmobile trails. The snowmobile was invented in Ossipee, NH by converting a Ford Model T in 1917. It became known as the "Ford on Snowshoes."
These are just a few of the reasons we think you'll love living in New Hampshire. It's a safe and wonderful place for families, with a high median income, low tax rate and a tremendous number of things to do. The airport in Manchester is very user user-friendly, and flights to and from Midwest cities like Chicago take under two and a half hours. So, what are you waiting for? If a career at Hitchiner Manufacturing Co., Inc. sounds like the right fit, we want to hear from you.
