Hitchiner® to Consolidate NH Manufacturing Operations

Hitchiner Manufacturing Co. Inc., will consolidate its New Hampshire manufacturing operations into its Milford site and wind down operations at its Littleton Manufacturing Complex over the next year.

Our Littleton plant is not closing immediately. Its operation will be phased down over the next twelve months. This affects approximately 135 employees.

Hitchiner® serves a broad range of global markets and customers that include leaders in automotive, aerospace and other industries. We compete for business every day with companies both in the United States and around the globe.

The operating economics of the Littleton facility and its distance from our Milford, NH wax, shell and casting operations are prompting this action. Our Littleton workforce is excellent. As we phase out our Littleton operation we will offer jobs and relocation assistance to employees that are able to transfer to our Milford site. We currently employ 470 people in Milford.

As a privately-held, New Hampshire-based company we take our responsibility to be a good corporate citizen seriously. We fully understand the effect this decision has on the Littleton community.

We have informed employees, customers, local and state officials of this decision today. We will work with all affected employees to help them deal with this transition, and with the Littleton Industrial Development Corporation to repurpose the facility.

Product lines, including aircraft parts, such as floatwalls and torque bars, and automotive parts, such as turbowheels and turbocharger rods, will be shifted to Milford.

We continuously evaluate the efficiency and viability of all our operating divisions through the lens of keeping the company competitive, serving our customers well and providing good jobs.

While this decision means fewer jobs in Littleton, it means more jobs in Milford and better positions Hitchiner® to compete strongly and remain one of the leading manufacturing companies in New Hampshire and a globally competitive industry leader.
